Service Description

Banff Wilderness Sunrise Run to Sentinel Pass — Calgary Pickup & Dropoff Location: Banff National Park (Moraine Lake & Sentinel Pass), AB Season: June 1 – Oct 15 (Moraine Lake road open) Fitness Level: Active — trail running/hiking through alpine terrain 4:00 AM – Calgary Pickup * Private tour van picks your group up from Calgary (hotel, home, airport, or designated meetup). * Comfortable seating with professional driver/guide to navigate the Rockies. * Drivers familiar with early starts and optimal routing to ensure sunrise timing. * Estimated Calgary → Moraine Lake transport: allow ~2 – 2.5 hrs depending on traffic/route. Sunrise at Moraine Lake 5:30 – 6:15 AM * Short walk to **Rockpile** or shoreline for first light over the Ten Peaks. * Group warm-up, coffee/snacks, sunrise photos. * Brief pre-run briefing from your guide. 6:15 AM – Sunrise Run / Hike to Sentinel Pass * Trail run/hike begins from Moraine Lake Trailhead → Larch Valley → Sentinel Pass. * Guided pacing: options for faster runners or mixed-ability group. * Frequent stops for photos, water, and safety check-ins. * Guides carry bear spray & first-aid supplies. 8:30 – 9:30 AM – At Sentinel Pass * Reach the pass with expansive views of alpine cirque and Bow Valley. * Light picnic lunch or trail snacks provided by the guide. * Time for group photos & guided nature interpretation. 9:30 AM – Return to Moraine Lake * Descend back down trail at a comfortable pace. * Cool-down stretches, water, and final park views before boarding. 12:30 PM – Bus Return to Calgary * Group boards the private bus for the scenic return trip. * Drop-off back in Calgary (same location as pickup). * Estimated arrival: ~2:30 PM. Please note: this tour only operates with a minimum of 8 people

Our goal is to offer safe, respectful, and meaningful experiences that connect guests to nature while protecting the park and everyone within it. All tours are professionally guided and operated in accordance with Parks Canada regulations. ________________________________________ 2. Safety First Your safety is our top priority. • All tours are led by trained, experienced guides • Safety briefings are provided before each tour • Guides continuously assess weather, trail conditions, wildlife activity, and group ability • Tours may be modified, shortened, or cancelled if conditions are unsafe Participation is voluntary, and guests are expected to follow all guide instructions. ________________________________________ 3. Participant Responsibilities Guests are responsible for: • Providing accurate information about health conditions, injuries, or physical limitations • Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for mountain conditions • Bringing required gear as outlined at booking • Following guide instructions at all times • Arriving on time for scheduled departures Banff Wilderness reserves the right to deny or end participation if a guest’s condition or behaviour presents a safety risk. ________________________________________ 4. Wildlife Awareness Banff National Park is home to wildlife. • Guests must maintain safe distances from wildlife at all times • Feeding, approaching, or attempting to photograph wildlife closely is prohibited • Tours may reroute or pause to avoid wildlife encounters Failure to follow wildlife safety instructions may result in removal from the tour without refund. ________________________________________ 5. Environmental Responsibility We follow Leave No Trace principles: • Stay on designated trails • Pack out all waste • Respect plants, animals, and natural features • Keep noise levels low Guests are expected to act respectfully toward the park environment.
